Glissade: Mount Ellinor-June 1974

We took the Winslow ferry from Seattle to the Olympic Peninsula for a six-mile roundtrip hike to the top of Mount Ellinor. Viewing the Olympics from Seattle, Ellinor is southern most mountain on the eastern front of the Olympics.

Time to get out the map and compass.

Sharon makes her way up the makeshift trail.

Mary, Liz, and Mary Lou relax.

Tom and Rob break trail.

Tom, Rob, Sharon, Greg, and Mary Lou set their sights on the view and Mt. Rainier.

Sharon, Tom, Greg, and Mary prepare to settle in for lunch with the Olympic Mountains in the background.

After working up a sweat on the last slope everyone bundles up in order to stay warm during lunch.

Mary and Greg take in the view to the south.

According to the head scarf, this is Mary Lou in glissade form.

According to the yellow gaiters, this is Mary in glissade form.

Someone snow plows down the slope.
