Glissade: Ingalls Creek-June 1974

This is one of the last class outings before we tackle Mt. Rainier. We hiked up Ingalls Creek about six to seven miles through a pine forest to below Stuart Pass. The weather was near perfect. What a beautiful site we found for our campsite. It had room enough for all the tents and individual cooking areas. The view of Mount Stuart was incredible. The site offered the class rappelling opportunities on its granite cliffs, and a long slope for glissading.

This was by far one of the best outings we had.

The trailhead was off of Ingalls Creek Road.

I love hiking in open forest, especially pine forests.

Sharon makes her way pass Mount Stuart on the way to our campsite.

The Stuart Range was visible most of the day.

That is Greg standing guard as the crew rests in the warm sun and wonders how much farther we have to go.

To the west of our campsite rises a long snow field perfect for glissading.

 Unknown, Rob, unknown, and Tom.

The "golden hour" finds Sharon serene with her setting. That is Mount Stuart in the background.

Liz and Sharon clean the cooking area prior to the sun leaving us.

Rob eats his chicken dinner.

Mary, unknown, and Mary Lou in the back.

He was very outgoing but I don't remember his name.

Our campsite early in the morning.

Dave organizes his gear prior to his climb.

Mary works the belay for Dave.

 Rob (?) on belay.

 John on belay.

Rob comes to the end of his practice climb.

Greg hangs out before heading out to the trailhead.
