Twin Sisters-July 1971

Kem invited his brother Steve to Bellingham. The three of us climbed the North Sister of the Twin Sisters located in the Sisters Range just west of Mt. Baker. It was a long climb due to the approach and lack of trail. We had to bushwhack while in the tree line. The snow slope was steep but a fairly easy climb. We found a solo climber at the summit. It was a good day's hike and climb.

I thought we had approached the North Sister from the north. This photograph is from the east. Plenty of bushwhacking either way.

Me posing midway up the slope. I wish someone would have taught me how to wear a daypack.

On July 3, 1999, I was sitting here with three friends when we heard avalanches on Mt. Baker. We thought of climbers on the mountain. We could hear a deep rumble south of us. On the way home we stopped at a tavern on Highway 9 for food and they informed us of the earthquake.
